Rotorua
Rotorua is New Zealand's "geothermal capital".
There is a distinct smell everywhere in the town itself rotten egg. The culprit is hydrogen sulfide, the smell of which it is spread here because of the numerous geothermal springs in the area.
The smell is unpleasant, but it is bearable, especially since it is worth it, because Rotorua is a great starting point for Wai-O-Tapu, Te-Puia and Hobbiton, and the town itself is also a nice place for a pleasant stroll.
Rotorua Town
Rotorua is a quiet, lakeside town. Lots of places to walk and lots of lake birds. Even our home-made ducks and geese :-)
Black swans
Originating birds from Australia, but occasionally seen also in Poland. Relatively common in New Zealand, especially around Rotorua. Black swans have white cubs :-)
New Years Eve in Rotorua
Do you want to be one of the first in the world to celebrate New Year's Eve? I recommend New Zealand. Here, champagnes shoot 12 hours earlier than in Poland, so when they celebrate the New Year here, in Poland it is 12:00 noon and some people are just getting up :-).
New Years Eve in Rotorua was different from all ours before. At the lake, with a firework show at 9:30 p.m., because at 10 p.m. it was already quiet at night, no alcohol and very family. It was quiet but romantic and unique, so we will remember this New Year's Eve for the rest of our lives. And on New Year's Day, no headache and others problems, we visited Te Puia :-). I recommend!
