Queenstown
City on south of the South Island with the international airport. If someone is planning to visit all of New Zealand, it is best to start or end your sightseeing in Queenstown. It's also a nice base for Milford Sound, although you have to take into account that the journey from Queenstown to Milford Sound will take around 2 hours.
A few words about Queenstown
The town is small and very atmospheric. A bit American style. The most important attractions of the city are the botanical garden and the gondola.
Queenstown Skyline Gondola
Well, from the observation deck, where the local gondola station is, there is a view of Queenstown. Somehow, this attraction did not captivate us, but it is definitely the perfect place from which to start the hike to the top of Ben Lomond (1748 m).
Botanic Garden
The Queenstown Botanical Garden is very close to the city center. It has many exotic and native plant species. You can take a nice walk here and rest on numerous benches usually placed in the shade of extensive trees.
