TRAVEL INSPIRATIONS
"Once a year, go somewhere you've never been before." The Dalai Lama
The beaches Coromandel
A very nice place to go sunbathe, take a walk on the interesting coast and climb to the viewpoint.
Summing up - something for everyone :-).
In addition, the beach is little known, so relatively few people use it.
We enjoyed the almost empty beach, even though it was the middle of holidays in New Zealand.
Beach 1
A very wide beach with a very gentle slope to the ocean.
Here you can see that the Pacific Ocean can be very archaic calm. The first timid waves did not appear until afternoon. During the evening high tide, the beach almost completely disappears under water to over in the morning re-emerge.
Way to the viewpoint
Facing the ocean on the left side of the beach, there is a viewpoint on the hill.
It's worth going there, but the way is not easy so we suggest take appropriate footwear.
The trouble is, you walk over rocks first and then steeply uphill.
It is very difficult to come down from there in flip-flops, we know from experience :-). In the right shoes, no problem.
Viewpoint
On the top of the hill there is a viewpoint over the second beach.
The view is very nice, so though the way to the top is demanding, so it's worth getting there.
Beach 2
On the way to the viewpoint, or instead of entering the viewpoint, you can walk along the rocky coast to the second beach. Even less frequented than the first and more intimate.
