TRAVEL INSPIRATIONS
"Once a year, go somewhere you've never been before." The Dalai Lama
Lower Silesia in 6 days.
A wonderful land friendly to pets. We visited all places with our Maltese dog Skipper. You can hike the gentle mountains here, see beautiful monuments and visit mysterious places like Riese.
Wobble
Wobble is granite rocks stacked on top of each other. After you climb onto the highest element and position yourself appropriately, you can break the highest stone. You can reach Chybotka by a walk through the forest, which was a pleasure for us and our Maltese.
High Stone
High Stone (1 058 m above sea level), is a peak in the Western Sudetes. The climb up the hill is very pleasant and gentle. We were able to enter without any problems, both us and our little dog. The trip to Wysoki Kamień took us about 4 hours, and the climb to the top took about 1.5 hours. We followed the red trail, starting from the station.
Mumlavsky Vodopad
Mumlawski Waterfall is located in the Czech Karkonosze Mountains. The cascade is about 10 m high. From the parking lot near the bus station in Harrachov you go along the forest road along the blue trail, approx. 20 min. A very pleasant walk and a charming place, eagerly used during professional photo sessions.
Rock City
Czech rock towns are one of the greatest attractions of the Sudetes. We went to Adrsspasko-Teplicke Skaly. Monumental, about 100m high rocks, creating labyrinths, waterfalls, canyons ... There are also a lot of steps to overcome. But worth. Sightseeing takes approx. 4 hours. And you can visit with your dog :-)
Riese - Giant
The largest mining and construction project in Nazi Germany. Until today shrouded in mystery. It is still unknown what was to be his destiny. The complex is hidden in the Owl Mountains. It was supposed to be one of the quarters major Adolf Hitler.
The Srebrna Góra Fortress
Srebrna Góra fortress erected in the years 1765–1777 near Srebrna Góra in Lower Silesia. You can walk from the parking lot for about 20 minutes, slightly uphill. A pleasant walk along an asphalt road. I recommend visiting the fortress with a guide. It tells very interesting historical facts and funny puzzles. The tour takes about 2 hours.
Szczeliniec Wielki
Szczeliniec Wielki is the highest peak in the Polish part of the Table Mountains (919 m above sea level). It takes about 1 hour to get to the top, and the road leads up the stairs - 665 steps :-). The steps are low, so the climb up is relatively easy and pleasant. Among the tourists, we even met people walking on crutches. You can get down from Szczeliniec by the same route, but we sincerely recommend the other route, leading through the Rock Labyrinth. Majestic rocks, narrow inlets, beautiful views - pure pleasure. Unfortunately the descent The Rock Labyrinth requires the purchase of tickets. Do it online, because there are long lines to the ticket office in Szczeliniec.
Errant Rocks
It is a very pleasant, short, several hundred meters and an easy-to-walk trail leading among the rocks. In places you have to squeeze between narrow rock crevices, but it is said that only once in recent years someone has been stuck between these rocks. And he was supposed to be some exceptionally corpulent and very tall man. We recommend the attraction to all those who like walking. Both the slim and the more massive ones.
Chapel of skulls
A special place in Kudowa Zdrój is Skull Chapel from 1776. IN There are only two more places of this type in Europe.
The founder of the chapel was the parish priest of the local parish, Wacław Tomaszek (Czech by descent). Shocked by the fact that the local lands were everywhere with human bones, he decided to collect these remains and place them in a common tomb, in the Chapel. On his initiative, in the area of Kudowa, Duszniki and Polanica Zdrój, the skulls and bones of those who died of cholera during the epidemic during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) and killed during the Silesian Wars, mainly the 7-year wars (1756-63) were collected. The walls and ceiling were lined with 3,000 skulls and bones. In the basement under the floor, there are still 21,000 skulls filling it up to a height of about 2 meters.
We visited this chapel a long time ago, in childhood. And again in 2019. She made a shocking impression on us again. And although the place is a bit depressing, because it is lined entirely with human skulls, the nobleness and anointing with which the nun tells about this place made even the children calm and with interest, without fear, watched this place.
Inside the chapel is not allowed to take pictures, so I used the photos available on the internet.
