TRAVEL INSPIRATIONS
"Once a year, go somewhere you've never been before." The Dalai Lama
Cape Verde
The Republic of Cape Verde, i.e. Cabo Verde.
It is made up of an archipelago of 10 islands and 8 diverse islets landscape and unique atmosphere.
Cabo Verde is peculiar blend Africa, Portugal and Brazil. Most of the local population are Creoles (approx. 80% of the population).
There is no mass tourism here yet and that is why this place is often called "The Last Paradise on Earth", or rightly, judge for yourself.
The island of Sal
Sal is an island of lazy people and happy people. A favorite saying of locals heard in the hotel, restaurant and on the street is: "Cabo Verde - No stress". But it has nothing to do with the green cape :-(. It is desert and rocky.
But Sal is too an island with the most beautiful beaches of the archipelago and a great place for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
When we are on vacation, Cabo Verde has the rainy season, which intensifies in August-October.
During this period, there is no chance of practicing water sports or even entering the ocean.
Zatoka Rekinów / Shark Bay
The name of the bay is due to the fact that it is famous for the presence of sharks that can be found here almost always. They come relatively close to the shore, but far enough away that some daredevils enter the assessment to be closer to them. Even at the shore, you can rent shoes that can make walking on the rocky bottom easier.
At the shore of Kreole, people who rent shoes spend their time lazily, not really interested in tourists or sharks.
So even in Shark Bay, no stress :-).
Buracon
Buracon are natural lava pools on the island of Sal. Those lucky enough to see "The Blue Eye", which owes its name to a specific play of light and emerald water. Unfortunately, we were not lucky and we only saw a black hole in the rock. But apparently because we were in Sal in July, when the weather is usually cloudy by noon.
Caretta caretta turtles
Night expedition in search of Caretta caretta turtles, in the form of an organized trip with a guide. We walked in complete darkness looking for a turtle, but we made it. We were able to see how she lays eggs and buries them in the sand. You are not allowed to take pictures with the lamp or even turn on the phone's display.
The tour is only available from July to September. The photos I posted come from the organizer of the See Places tour.
Salina in Pedra da Lume
Salinas are very saline lakes that are located in the crater of an extinct volcano. All salinas, including the corridor under the rocks formed by the volcanic eruption, are the work of nature. Man only took care of the creation salt transport system. The Salinas are a national heritage monument of Cabo Verde and have been typed on the UNESCO heritage list. The mining of salt goes back to millions of tons here. That is why even the name of the island of Sal comes from salin.
In the extremely salty Pedra de Lume lake you can bathe, or actually get wet, just like in the Dead Sea.
Fatamorgana in Terra Boa
There is a place on the island of Sal where you can experience the phenomenon of a mirage. In the desert, it is said that you can clearly see a lake that is not actually there. Unfortunately, we were not so lucky because we had bad, cloudy weather. Just like it was with "The Blue Eye". But keep trying, maybe you will succeed.
To wipe our tears, we were able to buy local products in the Mirage Bar.
Or maybe the rooster from the last photo wasn't really there? And it was this mirage :-).
Beaches on the island of Sal
Beaches surround the island of Sal. Among them there is the huge sandy beach of Ponta Preta, considered one of the best places in the world for windsurfing and kitesurfing. There are also excellent conditions for diving and fishing. However, during the Polish summer it is impossible to do water sports on Sal, or even to swim in the ocean, so if you want to look at the surfers, go to Cabo Verde before your vacation.
